Each location has its unique chic and colourful décor and offers a plethora of irresistible gelato goodies and more. The one in Notting Hill is surrounded by creatives and philanthropists interested in rare findings and art collections from Portobello. Our journey goes all the way back to 1932 when Idilio Badiani opened a gelateria in the heart of Florence. In 1993, the Pomposi family took over and gave Badiani its wings. The first Badiani shop opened in the centre of Florence in 1932. After a long gelato career, Idilio Badiani passed the reigns to Orazio Pomposi and his two sons, Paolo and Patrizio. Paolo Pomposi, known as the ‘gelato creative genius’, took the Badiani name to new heights. In 2015, the Iconic Italian Gelato finally made its great debut in London.
Pomposi was born and raised around gelato since his own father was an expert gelatiere. Very early on, he understood that he could take the art of gelato even further through creativity and research. He studied the architecture of flavour and how to bring out the best qualities of genuine ingredients. We would love to display incredible pieces on our wall in order to give our practice more value and make our clients even happier: when they come to Badiani they can taste art with our gelato and breathe art thanks to the artworks all around.
